Ear Candling

Ear candling, also called ear coning or thermal-auricular therapy, is an alternative medicine practice claimed to improve general health and well-being by lighting one end of a hollow candle and placing
the other end in the ear canal.

What is Ear Candle Therapy

Ear Candling is a natural treatment that dates back to ancient times and cultures. Also known as ear coning this relaxing therapy combined the use of beeswax and linen flax, as used by the Egyptians. Today the 9 or 12 inch candles are specially fabricated from beeswax and burn for approximately ten minutes.
As the tapered candle is placed in the ear, a process known as convection, draws out softer waxes and toxins from the ear. These are oxidized and turned into vapours during the candling procedure.

Ear Candle Therapy Hurt?

Ear Candling is a relaxing, painless and harmless natural treatment. As the wax burns and the fungus is drawn out of the ears a crackling and/or hissing sound may be noticeable. The wax and ear fungus is gently
drawn up through the chimney of the candle but this does not cause any discomfort.
It is not recommended that individuals suffering from perforated ear drums, or who have an artificial ear
drum, use ear candling as a treatment for any condition.
